Which is the right dog for me? Should I get a male or female ? Should I start with a puppy or purchase an adult dog? Do I want a large or small dog? To find the best K9 for your task we need to know your requirements, and what you want in a dog. We will match you up with a dog that is best suited for your needs and if we haven’t the dog for you we will find one and include our K9 Guarantee. We spend a great deal of time sourcing the correct dog and making sure it does the work it is intended for. Education is the first step to making the right decision in your dog or puppy purchase If you have any general questions please do not hesitate to call, or e-mail us - however if you have already decided to purchase a dog at K9 Centre.com, then please click on email link and fill in your details. The most important decision when buying a dog (especially in a family situation) is you must like the dog you are buying. Don’t purchase a dog if you don’t feel right about it. (We won’t sell you a dog if we don’t feel right about it!) Do a little bit of homework on the breed you like. Feel free to ask us as many questions as possible even if you think your question sounds silly it may be an important factor that we need to know about . Again answer some of these questions : - Do I want to start with a puppy or purchase a teenage or adult dog
- If I purchase a puppy am I willing to be trained with my dog
- Do I want a male or female?
- What breed of dog do I like and want?
- Have I got the time and resources to look after a dog and continue to update his/her training.
- What do I want my dog to do? Personal protection ? Security dog ? Family protection dog? or a detection dog. Please Note: Some breeds of dogs are better suited than others when it comes to doing a job for example, a working security dog and don’t listen to anyone when they tell you it must be a male and not desexed. We have trained a lot of excellent males, females and desexed males this does not make a difference at all. My police dog Mate was desexed when his training started and was an excellent dog and full the right stuff until the day he died.
Answer all of the above questions and you should then know what you want in the dog of your choice Do your homework and sort out the concerns you have about your chosen breed. Different breeders can have different opinions on the same subject (and disregard anything one breeder has to say about another breeder, they are likely old enemies). You simply have to spend the time and dig up the truth on any contradictory claims wherever you can find the answer, library, internet, etc. After all, you are about to commit yourself to sharing a major part of your future time, money, emotions, feelings and well being with another living being. If it doesn't work out, it's your loss and emotional pain you will have to endure. An honest breeder has already invested an unbelievable amount of time, energy and money in his/her dogs, the least you must do, is sort out your priorities and know what you want to do with the puppy |
