Explosives Detection Dog Training

Today, the only way to totally clear an area, quickly and efficiently, of explosive’s is by using a well trained Explosive Detector Dog Handler Team. The dogs are trained by The K9 Centre are hand selected for their suitability and then fully trained to an operational level.
As there is the possibility that an explosive device could be made up any number of different explosive materials it is important to train an explosive detection dog to detect the core scents found in all combinations. We believe that it is important to train the canines to detect both trace samples as well as bulk samples of any given scent in all situations and environments.

We train our dogs on real odour not pseudo.

K9 Centre Australia has APPROVAL under the :
HEALTH (DRUGS and POISONS) REGULATION 1996 to use PURE ODOUR Substances for the training of K9 Detection Teams

We train our explosive detection dogs to detect all explosives (our dogs are NOT trained on simulated odours ) that are required to make all possible combinations available on the market today in both the military and commercial sectors
We are constantly researching the explosives field to ensure that our training is in line with the latest information.

Our Explosive detection dogs also known as bomb dogs are trained on real explosives odour. This is incorporated into our realistic training regime thus providing you with some of the best quality explosive detection dogs in the world. These dogs undergo training for at least  12 weeks, by qualified and experienced trainers. At the end of this time once tested and certified by qualified professionals these dogs will be at a fully operational standard comparable with any explosive detection dogs sold world wide.
The dogs must follow a set of standard guidelines just to begin training. These dogs may be of any breed as long as they have the right drives for the work involved. We do prefer to use Labradors, German Shepherds or Belgian Malinois but have found other breeds, such as Cocker Spaniels, Australian Cattle Dogs and even an Australian Kelpie to possess the right drives.
